August 13, 2008

Dear Parents and Guardians, Welcome to the new scholastic year at Grace International School! If you are new to GIS and your family is uncertain whether your children want to eat the hot meals, please try them 2this first week of school without obligation to pay for the entire semester. (Only Thai dishes will be served the first week so your student has an introduction to the Thai menu.)

Lunch fee payment: Lunch fees are collected on a semester basis. Please pay lunch fees in the GIS office any day before August 22nd. If you are not able to pay by that time, please inform Khun Jantip by email to make other arrangements. She can be flexible, but we do need to know who is going to be eating in the cafeteria.

If you do not wish to come personally and do not need a receipt, please place the exact amount with the completed form in a sealed envelope and send it with your child. You may send the payment with one child for the entire family in one envelope. Your child can turn the payment/s to his/her teacher or at the office desk. This is at your own risk. Please come and pay in-person if you need a receipt.

Lunch choices: Please look over the attached menu for details of what will be served each day.
  • Salad Bar - A salad bar will be offered daily with a variety of greens, fresh veggies, and dressings.
  • Thai menu - Rice will be offered daily, with 2 choices for toppings on Monday-Wednesday-Friday. There will always be a mild dish as well as one that is spicier to try to appeal to every taste. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, there will be rice with one topping available.
  • Western food - will be served every Tuesday and Thursday in addition to a rice dish.
  • Because so many children enjoy eating the “sticky rice days”—August 22, September 5 & 26, October 31, November 14, and December 12—those 6 daysare included in the western food plan B option payment.
  • Fruit will be served every day.
  • Please inform your child that lunch prices cover one 2nd-helping only. (If your child desires more than 2 helpings, please contact us for an option of multiple portions). On Tues-Thursday, the second helping may be either the western dish or the rice dish. The school does not provide refrigeration or assistance for preparation (microwave, hot water, etc.) of lunches brought from home.
