Special Education services at
Grace International School are designed to develop the
educational potential of students with disabilities or learning
needs. The large majority of our students are mainstreamed into
the regular classroom setting. The teaching staff at GIS
receives support from the Special Needs Department in order to
provide appropriate education for each student.
The students served by the Special
Needs Department each have a "504 Accommodation Plan" to
communicate their needs to the classroom teacher. This plan
enables our staff to utilize the best methods of accommodating
and modifying curriculum within the mainstream or resource
classroom.
Special Education Services
include:
- "504 Accommodation Plan"
documentation
- In-class support by
Special Educators as needed
- Resource Classes taught by
a Special Educator for secondary students
- Independent Study Classes
for high school students
- Weekly and/or Quarterly
Reports sent to parents as needed
- Academic assessments and
