COVID-19 Updates

The CMT has been closely monitoring the increase in COVID-19 cases across Thailand. School closures have already been announced for 28 provinces according to this map, but Chiang Mai is not yet included in this list. 

Since the Governor of Chiang Mai has not yet announced a lockdown or school closures, Semester 2 is scheduled to start Wednesday, January 6. 

According to the current classification of provinces by number of COVID-19 cases, Chiang Mai is in the moderate yellow zone:

Red – Traveling from the red zone areas (areas that have many positive cases).

  • Check in CM-Chana application
  • Report themselves to the Disease Control officer in the area
  • Take RT-PCR test as recommended by Disease Control Officer
  • 14 days self quarantine (Home Quarantine)

Yellow – Traveling from the other areas with no positive cases of Samut Sakhon, Rayong, Chonburi and Bangkok.

  • Check in CM-Chana application
  • Report themselves to the Disease Control officer in the area
  • Take RT-PCR test as recommended by Disease Control Officer
  • Self monitoring closely

Green – Traveling from other provinces.

  • Check in CM-Chana application
  • Self-monitoring
  • Can travel in CM freely as normal but asked to follow the COVID19 protocol (wear mask 100% of the time, wash hands, and check in the Thai Chana application when entering the places).

If you have traveled during the break and returned after December 25 from one of the red zone areas with high case numbers and severe COVID-19 spread, please remain home and quarantine for 14 days after the date you left. The red zone areas are as follows:

Samutsakorn: Amphor Muang, Amphor Baan Paew
Rayong: Amphur Muang
Chonburi: Amphur Banglamung
Bangkok: Khet Bangkok Noi, Khet Bang Plad, Khet Nong Khaem, Khet Bang Khun Tien
Nakhon Pathom: Amphor Kampaeng Sean, Amphor Bang Lane, Amphor Nakorn Chaisri
Nonthaburi: Amphur Bang Yai
